Privacy Policy

Your game history stays in your browser. This policy explains that local storage, the infrastructure that delivers the site, and the limited analytics that may be enabled.

Local game history

Scores remain in this browser and are not synchronized to an account.

Technical delivery data

Hosting providers process standard requests to deliver and protect the site.

Limited analytics

When configured, analytics measures broad usage—not your tile pattern.

This Privacy Policy explains how the Visual Memory Test website handles information when you visit the site or play the game. It covers information stored in your browser, limited technical information processed to deliver the website, and analytics data processed when measurement services are enabled.

The Visual Memory Test does not require an account. You are not asked to provide a name, email address, password, profile, or payment information to play.

Information stored on your device

The History feature uses your browser’s localStorage to save game results on your current device. A saved result may contain:

  • The date and time of the game
  • The highest level successfully completed
  • Game accuracy and duration
  • A randomly generated local record identifier

This information remains in the browser profile where the game was played. It is not uploaded to a server as part of the History feature, and it is not synchronized between browsers or devices.

You can view these records through the History panel and remove them with the Clear History control. You can also remove them through your browser’s site-data settings. Clearing browser data, using private browsing, blocking local storage, or uninstalling the browser may delete the records.

Because the history is stored locally, the site operator cannot recover it after it is removed. If localStorage is unavailable, the game may still work, but the browser may not retain your results after the session ends.

Information processed to deliver the website

Like most websites, the site relies on hosting and network infrastructure to respond to requests, deliver files, maintain security, and diagnose technical problems. The hosting provider may process standard request information such as:

  • IP address, requested page, and request time
  • Browser, device, referrer, and network information
  • Security signals, errors, and diagnostic information

The site is designed for deployment through Cloudflare infrastructure. Cloudflare may process request and security data as an independent provider or service provider under its own terms and privacy documentation. This technical processing is separate from the game history stored in localStorage.

Google Analytics 4

When a Google Analytics measurement identifier is configured, the site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand general traffic and feature usage. Google Analytics may process information such as page views, approximate location derived from an IP address, browser type, device category, referring source, session information, and limited interaction events.

Custom game events may report that a game started, a level was completed, or a game ended. These events may include coarse game information such as the completed level, grid size, remaining lives, or overall accuracy.

We do not intentionally send the highlighted tile pattern, individual tile coordinates, full click sequence, local history identifier, name, email address, or other direct personal identifiers through custom Google Analytics events.

Google handles analytics information under its service terms, data-processing terms, account settings, and privacy documentation.

Microsoft Clarity

When a Microsoft Clarity project identifier is configured, Clarity may provide aggregated interaction information, heatmaps, technical diagnostics, and session replay. It may process page visits, clicks or taps, scrolling, browser and device characteristics, approximate location, and performance signals. The game and History regions are marked for masking so that their displayed contents are not intentionally included in recordings.

We do not use Clarity’s identification features to attach a name, email address, or account ID to a visitor. Available features depend on browser settings, regional requirements, project configuration, and consent state. Where full analytics storage is not permitted, Clarity may operate with restricted functionality or without persistent cookies.

How analytics information is used

Limited analytics information is used to:

  • Measure page traffic and broad feature usage
  • Find confusing controls, errors, or layout problems
  • Improve accessibility, reliability, security, and speed

Analytics evaluates the site as a product. It is not used to diagnose memory, build a clinical profile, or make decisions about a visitor’s employment, education, insurance, credit, or eligibility. We do not intentionally combine local game history with information that directly identifies a person.

Cookies and similar technologies

LocalStorage and cookies are both browser storage technologies, but they serve different purposes on this site. LocalStorage supports the game-history feature. It allows recent results to remain available on the same browser after the page is closed. It does not automatically transmit those results to the server.

Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity may use cookies or similar technologies, depending on configuration, region, browser settings, and consent requirements. These technologies help measure visits and produce aggregated reports.

This implementation sends a restricted, denied storage state by default and does not show a general consent pop-up. In locations or configurations where permission is legally required for non-essential storage, analytics must remain in a limited cookieless mode or not run until valid permission exists. Some reports and session features may consequently be incomplete.

You can block or delete cookies and localStorage through your browser settings. Blocking storage may prevent History from persisting and may reduce analytics functionality, but it should not prevent you from reading the site or starting a game.

Sharing and service providers

Cloudflare, Google, and Microsoft may process information for hosting, security, analytics, and diagnostics when their services are enabled. Information may also be disclosed to meet a valid legal obligation, investigate abuse, or protect the site and legal rights. The site does not sell local game-history records or make them available to data brokers.

Retention

Local game history remains until you clear it, the browser removes it, or the storage format changes. The feature keeps up to 50 recent games. Hosting, security, and analytics information is retained according to operational need, provider settings, applicable law, and each provider’s retention policy. Aggregated reports may remain after underlying event-level information is deleted or anonymized.

International processing

Cloudflare, Google, and Microsoft operate internationally, so technical and analytics information may be processed outside your country. Where required, providers use contractual safeguards or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms.

Your choices and privacy rights

You can clear local game history from the History panel or remove localStorage and cookies through browser settings. Extensions, content blockers, privacy controls, and provider opt-out tools may limit analytics. Not every browser signal is legally required or technically supported in every location.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to personal information, including the right to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability. You may also have the right to withdraw consent or complain to a local data-protection authority.

Because the site has no accounts and avoids direct identifiers, connecting an analytics record with one visitor may not be possible. To ask a privacy question or exercise an applicable right, use the operator contact details associated with the domain from which you accessed this site.

Children’s privacy

The site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 18. It does not knowingly request names, contact details, accounts, or profiles from children.

Security

Reasonable measures are used to protect the site and limit unnecessary collection, but no browser-storage system or internet transmission is completely secure. The game does not need medical details, legal names, passwords, or other confidential information.

Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when the site’s features, providers, legal obligations, or data practices change. The revised version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes will be presented more prominently when required by applicable law.
